May Writers’ Meeting

Today we held our May meeting of the JWB. The next meeting will be on Sunday, June 17, 2012, from 12:30 to 3PM at Bella Caffe in Park Rapids MN.

TALKING STICK 21:

We are making good progress on TS21 on the proofing. We brought a proof copy today so people could look at the book layout and the cover. Sharon will soon have a flyer ready for the TS21 Book Release Party and Workshop on Sept. 15, 2012 at Blueberry Pines.

WRITERS EVENTS COMING SOON:

June 2, 2012 in Wadena at Burlington Northern Park and the Depot, attend the Affaire-des Artes from 11 to 4PM. There will be BBQ and more music events from 4 to 6PM.

June 3 through Sept. 23, 2012. Sunday Classic Series at The Y-Steak House, featuring authors and musicians such as Candace Simar, Will Weaver, Nate Jorgenson, William Kent Krueger, Jill A Johnson. June 11-16, 2012 in Bemidji. The Bemidji Library Book Festival. Some events are at the library, some at Headwaters School of Music and the Arts, some at Bemidji High School. There is a Book Fair Friday evening, June 15, from 5 to 7 PM at Bemidji High School. There are writers’ workshops, readings, children’s authors, Ann Bancroft as keynote speaker. July 28, 2012 Ror Schach Music and Arts Festival, July 28, 2012. Vendors will be a range of art, authors and local musicians From 11 AM to 1 AM. Tarah Wolff will be there with her new book Embraced by Darkness. Contact Nate Decker at : nated@rorschachmusicfest.com.

BLANK CANVAS GALLERY:

BCG is having its annual meeting tomorrow, May 21, 2012 at 9 AM. Jerry and Scott will attend.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Jerry is now a member of the board for the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. He hopes that we will be able to encourage more literary events there, perhaps classes and contests.

Some of us read things we had been working on and the rest of us enjoyed and critiqued.
