October 19th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on November 16, 2008 at Bella Caffe from 12:30 to 3PM.
Present today: Vern, Jodi, Luke, LuAnne, Sharon.
20X20 BOOKS
We have another order of 20×20 books. These will be available for $12.00. Otherwise, they can be purchased from lulu.com for $14.00 plus tax and shipping.
BOOK RELEASE PARTY/ANNUAL CELEBRATION
We had nearly 70 people at this event on Sept 20, 2008. What a turnout. We ate good food, sold lots of books, talked to old friends and new acquaintances, listened to Kent Nerburn (one of our judges), and listened to readings.
ART LEAP
During this year’s Art Leap, 3 of the Jackpine Writers’ members did a reading at Long Lake Theater on 9-27-08.
ARTISTS’ WAY CLASS
This is going great. The members all really enjoy each other and may even continue meeting beyond the end of the class.
BOARD MEETING
We held a board meeting today to start talking about next year’s events. We are going to have an easy year next year with only the golf tournament, the book and a book release party, perhaps one or two workshops. We are looking at another 20×20, perhaps in 2010 and a writers’ retreat weekend or week, perhaps in 2011.
NANOWRIMO
Cindie has started in on the NANOWRIMO project, National Novel Writing in a Month. She already has 15 signed up.
BRAINERD BWA
Luke got second place in this year’s BWA contest. Congrats, Luke!! Their special meeting was held on October 4th at Lakeland College.
WRITING EVENTS
Luke attended the 19th Sinclair Lewis Writing Group in Sauk Center this year. Bill Holm was one of the speakers. This is always a great event.
Life Long Learning–November 12, 2008, Beagle Books and Life Long Learning have an event involving the Sesquetennial. Email LuAnne for more information: luicakes@arvig.net.
