Submitting to the Jackpine Writers’ Bloc
The call for submissions for the Talking Stick 26 are now closed – thank you for submitting!
After so many years of publishing The Talking Stick (since 1995), The Jackpine Writers’ Bloc branched out and started publishing individual authors. In 2007 we published Broken Hart by Jerry Mevissen and in the following years we published Fall Pictures on an Abandoned Road and Disordinary Light by Richard Fenton Sederstrom, Seasons of Light by Marion Holtey and The Perfect Man by Luann White. All of the books were edited by Sharon Harris and Tarah L. Wolff designed the interior and the covers. All of the books were either published through Morris Publishing out of Nebraska or online at Lulu.com. In 2012 the JWB branched out and published Sharon Harris’ poetry book Unspoken through Create Space.
We offer the entire editorial, design and publishing package. If you’re interested in finding out more and having a look at our contract please use the contact form.
The Jackpine Writers’ Bloc offers line editing on poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Sharon Harris has had many years of editing experience on the Talking Stick books. If you need one more person to take a look at your book before you submit it for publication, we are affordable and quick.
Layout and Design
Layout and design are a very important step to producing a beautiful and professional looking book. Tarah L. Wolff has designed ten published Talking Sticks for the Jackpine Writers’ Bloc (through Morris Publishing out of Nebraska), seven books for members of the Jackpine Writers’ Bloc (published either through Morris Publishing or through lulu.com), two 20x20s which included full color photographs of artwork (both published through lulu.com) and her very own first novel, Embraced by Darkness BOOK ONE Sacrifices, published through createspace.com and across several e-book platforms.
If you are self publishing your book The Jackpine Writers’ Bloc has the experience to help.
Often writers have a hard time finding experienced people they can trust to critique their work without an opinion on subject. The writers who will see your work include (but are not limited to): Jerry Mevissen (author), Scott Stewart (author, ghost writer and teacher), Sharon Harris (author, editor) and Tarah L. Wolff (author, editor). Cost depends on size of work; please contact us for a quote.
If you’re interested in hiring the Jackpine Writers’ Bloc for any of the above work, please use our contact form for more information. The Jackpine Writers’ Bloc is a nonprofit organization and all of our proceeds go to publishing Minnesota writers.
