August Meeting Minutes 2025

Hello Everyone,

We will have no meeting in September due to our book release party on Sept. 20, 2025.

PRESENT:

Mike, Sharon, Erin, Dawn, Niomi.

TALKING STICK, WORKSHOP, BOOK PARTY:

Our Talking Stick 34 books have been ordered and received and are all ready to go for the book party. Candace plans to have a Winners Panel for the last half hour of the workshop. We are planning sandwiches and macaroni salad for lunch. We would like to get a few more signed up for the workshop. We are considering also having members of the Ed Board speak for a few minutes about things we look for when choosing the writings to go into the book.

WRITING EVENTS:

     Hackensack—Sharon, Marlys, Dawn, Niomi, and Niomi’s daughter helped at Hackensack. We had a good day. The downtown was all torn up with road construction but there was still a good crowd. Mike had a good day too. Sharon and Niomi each sold a few of their books also.

     PRLAAC—we did not receive the minutes for this month’s meeting.

     Marsh Muirhead has a class on publishing for $30 on October 4 at Watermark in Bemidji from 1 to 3. www.watermarkartcenter.org.

     Poetry slam on September 18 at Fozzie’s Barbecue in Bemidji, 6 PM music, 7 PM show. Must register ahead at www.watermarkartcenter.org.

      We took turns reading things we have been working on and others critiqued. We are still doing the monthly words and usually two or three of us will try it. It always brings up something unusual. We always have good discussions. We mentioned that books published with Amazon can now be recorded with a voice and can be sold as Audible books. Today we also spoke about the concerns some of us have about things like ChatGPT and AI.
