For many years, we supported ourselves with donations, book sales, and a few grants. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to fund our books. Without your support and donations, there would be no Jackpine Writers’ Bloc and no Talking Stick books. Remember, your tax donation is tax deductible. We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

February Meeting Minutes 2018

Hi Everyone,

Today we held our February meeting.

PRESENT:

Mike, Mary, Dawn, Ryan, Sharon

TALKING STICK 27:

Get your submissions in. We have from 1 to 6 submissions from 50+ writers now. We hope to get lots more. The deadline is March 1. Go to www.jackpinewriters.com for submission guidelines.

We are still looking for a place for the Book Release Party. We are hoping we can work it out with Smokey Hills. Another option is the church in Dorset but we could get bumped for a funeral. There would be cabins to stay in at Smokey Hills. Ryan is going to check into the VFW in Akeley.

OTHER BOOKS:

Louise Bottrell’s memoir is done. Down the Hill One Last Time should be on sale on Amazon soon.

We are now starting on Jerry’s Animal Life.

WRITING EVENTS:

Jerry is still doing Book Ends, his second Saturday event in Wadena. It is going well.

When the Great American Storyteller information is ready, we want to email it to all.

Sharon is enjoying another online class at the Loft with lots of good prompts.

Dawn has two more storyteller events at Farm by the Lake in Bagley.

Mike has been doing readings for his two books, Firewood Happens and Down at the Dock.

Ryan will be attending a Region 2 event about Your Audience.

MN Northwoods Writers Conference at Bemidji State University June 18-24, 2018. www.northwoodswriters.org.

We had bad roads and we were pleased that 5 of us showed up. We had a good time reading and critiquing each other’s writing. Hope to see you next time!
