SECOND ANNUAL JACKPINE WRITERS’ CELEBRATION:
The August 6, 2005 party is coming up. We have the Mark Vinz poetry workshop from 1 to 4:30 in Hubbard Hall followed by a meal in the Gazebo at Long Lake Theater, right across the street. Then, starting about 6 pm, there will be a program and readings, introduction of the winners in the three categories in Talking Stick 14. After that, more refreshments in the Gazebo. Should be great fun!! All three winners will be in attendance. Sadly, only 2 of the 3 judges will be able to attend. Will Weaver will not be able to be there. One of his short stories is being made into a movie and he needs to be in the Cities that day.
LAKES, LOONS AND LEGENDS:
We have not gotten much information on this yet. This will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14. Third Street in Park Rapids will be blocked off. There will be a stage and live music, readings, etc. We can have a table and sell books. We don’t know the times yet. Contact Sharon to sign up to read or sell books. sharrick1@wcta.net. As soon as we get more information, we will email everyone. Sounds like Marion and Jerry can attend on Saturday; Tarah and Sharon can attend on Sunday. We need more!!

Tarah won first place with her photo Sorry I’m Late at the Regional Arts Contest in New York Mills at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. She also sold 3 or 4 prints. Good job, Tarah! This photo is part of the Lines and Lights Display that Tarah and Sharon have taken around to various museums and libraries. Right now it is on display at the Bemidji Public Library till mid August. Then we will take it to Hackensack for one day.
