March Meeting Minutes 2025

PRESENT: Sharon, Ryan, Marlys, Erin, Mike, Dawn, Sue.

TALKING STICK 34 PROGRESS:

Submissions for TS34 are all in. Judges are chosen. Instructor is chosen. September 20, 2025, is the date for our event at Jack Pines Resort near Osage MN.

WRITING EVENTS:

Marlys attended the writers’ retreat with Candace Simar. They had to do a 15 minute presentation. Marlys did hers on the Words.

Mike attended the writers’ event at Rosemount. Because of the weather, it was not real well attended.

PRLAAC (Heartland Arts) meeting. They had updates on concerts, the Nemeth Art Center, auditions for the Northern Lights Opera, Art Leap.

The Paul Bunyan Playhouse cancelled their 2025 events.

Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference June 23-28, 2025 at Bemidji State University. Intensive 4-day workshops, daily craft talks, affordable housing. www.northwoodswriters.org.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Ryan has been using Scrivener and Aeon Timeline to aid in his writing.

Sue says that anyone who has some personal or family history stories to share, she is involved with the Historical Society of Bemidji. They are doing a new series of the Beltrami County area.

Dawn had one poem published in Agates and two poems published by the Witness Writers Group Anthology.

Sharon is almost done with her online poetry class—just one more week. This is called Writing the Garden of Your Life with Caryn Miriam-Goldberg.

We spent some time reading and critiquing each other’s work. We had a great time and hated to see the meeting end. Hope to see you all next time!
