MISCELLANEOUS EVENTS:
Third Street Market is interested in putting on a weekly tea, perhaps from 3 to 5. No day of the week has been decided yet. We could perhaps do some poetry readings there.
The 20 x 20 Event will not be happening this year. We will try to plan it for next year. This would be 20 pieces of art matched randomly with 20 writers. The writers do a one page poem or short story about the art piece. This will be similar to the 30 x 30 event at Macrostie Theater in Grand Rapids that they have held for the past two years. Jerry, Cindie, John and the Booths have been involved in this. This year, they made a neat little book with the color art along with the writings.
TALKING STICK 15:
We are right on target with the book. We are receiving submissions every day, getting them copied and organized. June 1 deadline. Our ad is now in Minnesota Literature.
JERRY’S SUCCESSES:
The Minnesota Community College Professional Association went to our website and then asked Jerry to talk to their group at the Reconnect Retreat. This event is being held at Maplelag near Detroit Lakes. His session will be on Creativity and Writing. He is presenting himself as part of the Jackpine Writers’ Bloc. He is going to use some of our Talking Sticks as textbooks.
It sounds like Holy Cow! Press is interested in Jerry’s next book, a collection of short stories. They are located in Duluth and they specialize in Minnesota poets. They looked through the last few Talking Sticks that had some of Jerry’s work in it — and they stated that they had published several others in our books.
Jerry will also be teaching at the loft, a session on Intergenerational Writing. Great, Jerry!!
GOOD BOOKS TO READ:
Reflections on a Full Moon
Writing Down the Bones
WALKER WRITING GROUP:
Sandi reported that the Walker Writing Group is meeting weekly and doing assignments.
SEMINARS:
We are trying to get Faith Sullivan to come to PR for perhaps a weekend workshop. She might also do a book signing, reading, etc.
GOLF TOURNAMENT:
Tarah mentioned the possiblity of a golf tournament at Fair Havens golf to earn some money. We could sell books also. Perhaps the PRAAC could get involved too. Perhaps some businesses could give prizes. It could be this fall or next summer, probably on a Friday. We need to have the Board of Directors discuss this.
READINGS AT BEAGLE BOOKS:
