For many years, we supported ourselves with donations, book sales, and a few grants. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to fund our books. Without your support and donations, there would be no Jackpine Writers’ Bloc and no Talking Stick books. Remember, your tax donation is tax deductible. We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

September 20th 2008

Hi Everyone,

Today we held our September JWB meeting at Northwoods Bank right ahead of our Sept. 20 big event. Our October meeting will be Sunday October 19, 2008, at Bella Caffe in Park Rapids MN from 12:30 to 3PM. Present today were: LuAnne, Scott, Cindie, Luke, Jodi, Mike, Vern, Jerry, and Sharon H.

HACKENSACK

Several of us went to Hackensack in August. It was a great event. Hundreds of people attended. We sold lots of books. Luke won one of the 6 top choices in the special poetry contest they had. Sharon H won one of the 6 popular choice awards in the poetry contest.

20X20 BOOKS

We have 20×20 books available. The original booklets are $6.00 each. The special gift edition lapbooks are $12.00. We have a limited amount available. More of the lapbooks can be purchased from lulu.com. They are beautiful!

WORKSHOP

We are having a special 12 week course patterned after the Artists’ Way by Julia Cameron. This course is full, but we will probably offer it again. This is an artists’ recovery course. We have several other workshops in mind for next year.

NANORIMO

The November Write a Novel in a Month event is coming up soon. Cindie will be sending out emails later on.

Several members read what they were working on. We just had a quick short meeting today so we could get ready for our Book Release Party and Jackpine Writers Annual Celebration.
