May Meeting Minutes 2026

Hello Everyone,

Today we held our May meeting.

PRESENT:

Ryan, Sharon, Mike, Dawn, Marlys

TALKING STICK 35:

All the yes and no letters have gone out. All the first and second place winners have been called. Tarah has them all scanned in to a file that we can start working on.

The Book Release party and workshop will be held on Saturday Sept. 19, 2026 at Jack Pines Resort. We are now sending out flyers and getting people signed up. It is only 4 months away.

PRLAAC (HEARTLAND ARTS) MEETING:

Mike was able to attend the meeting. They have a new calendar brochure out for the summer. They will perform Caberet this year.

WRITERS’ EVENTS:

Long Lake Theater had approached us about doing a poetry reading. We decided it would not work for us this year. We thanked them for considering us and we will speak with them next year.

The Northwoods Book & Art Festival will be held in Hackensack on August 8 this year. Who will be able to go to help sell books?

Sharon and Tarah are almost done with Niomi’s book. She should be able to order her books in a couple of weeks.

Mike has had events at various book stores recently: New Ulm, Big Lake, Big Fork. He is also writing magazine articles and working on his next two books.

There will be a Poetry Slam this Thursday at Fozzy’s in Bemidji at 6:30.

We took turns reading what we have been working on and critiquing each other’s work. All in all, a good meeting and a good day. Hope to see you all next time!
